Editing Draft

Editing
To edit our film we used  software called Sony Vegas (8 Pro), the reason we decided to use this software over others is because I had experience using it so we though it best to stick to what we know. Also we thought that this software was better than the other options we had (iMovie, Windows Movie Maker) because it was a more professional software that made editing easy. As I had experienced I did the majority of the editing and took care of all the more complicated editing, however we all made sure we had a go so that we each had an input on the editing and each got to learn and gain skills from doing it.

Pictures
These are a few pictures we took whilst editing to show how we edit all of the clips and to show the software we were using. As we only had one computer we all split up into individual jobs; one person would actually be pressing the buttons and editing the clips, another would be helping them edit and giving input on shot lengths positioning etc, one person would have to get the storyboard and make sure all the clips being edited are in the correct order, and the last person would be checking the timings and making sure the clips were the correct length.

Problems With Editing
We recorded our whole music video on a mini DV tape and we had watched some clips back and then we forgot to fast-forward the tape to were we stopped filming, so we ended up filming over some of the footage we had already recorded. This meant when it came to editing we didn't have all of the clips we needed to edit so we have decided we will make another draft and make sure we use a new tape and don't watch any of the clips back until we edit them. Also we had to burn our video onto a DVD and this was a problem as we hadn't done this before. I had to download some new software; 'Sony DVD Architect Pro (5.0)', this software allows you to burn files made previously on the computer onto to DVD it also allows you to edit the video software and add more effects, but because we hadn't used the software before we had some trouble when trying to burn the video to DVD. Eventually we managed to work out how to use the software and burned the DVD successfully but because we couldn't initially use the software correctly we couldn't hand in the DVD when the date was set however we did upload our video to YouTube so we could still hand it in.
