Lip Sync Practice - Busted

This is mine and Josh S' remake of Busted's 'What I Go To School For'.

Pre Production/Planning
We teamed up as a class of about 25 students to film and act in the video. The first thing we had to do was a risk assessment this involved looking at things that could go wrong throughout the production of our film and what precautions needed to be taken. The next thing we had to do was watch the real version of the music video that busted had made and storyboard all of the shots. This helped us when we filmed our remake video as we had a 'plan' of all the shots we were going to do and what order they needed to come in.

Production/Filming
To film the video we had one person on the camera and one person 'directing' the shots. The rest of us helped put the actors in the correct place or even act ourselves. We would first what the shot we were about to film/perform so we could get a good idea of what we need to re-create. Also it helped the actors to learn the lyrics and get there timing right. We split up in to two groups when filming the video one group filmed all of the inside shots and the other group filmed all of the shots outside. This meant overall it took about 2 - 2/1 lessons (2 - 3 hours) to film.

Post Production/Editing
To edit the film we again had to use the story board so we could get the shots in the right order, we also had to watch the original video so we could make sure our shots look right and could tweak the length, brightness etc. if necessary. The whole class had to edit there own video in small groups me and Josh edited ours he did the first part of the video and I did the last. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to edit overall.

Good Points
The things that went well in our film is the large majority of the lip syncing fitted when we came to edit and look semi-realistic. Also most of the shots were the same length and looked very similar or the same as those in the real video.

Bad Points
The things that didn't go so well in our film was that some clips didn't look very convincing or they were to dark so when it came to editing some clips had to be missed out because the quality wasn't that good. Also some shots in the busted film; e.g. the 'projector shot' weren't possible for us to film as we didn't have a projector so in our final video we will make sure we only plan to do things that are possible for us to do.

Overall
I think our final production looked quite good and fairly convincing as a busted remake video if I had to rate it I would give it a 7/10.
