Arran and Josh N's Busted Remake

This was our task in which we had to do a remake regarding the music video by busted called 'this is what i go to school for'.

Pre-Production

Before we started to produce the music video we had to think about many aspect of how to re-enact the video, we had to do a risk assessment and take factors which could potentially damage or harm people into consideration. Things such as wires running on the floor in the dark, footwear when jumping up and down and chewing gum whilst trying to mime the words we had to outline as potential health hazards. We also story boarded the sequence of the film, which helped us a lot during production because we could then just refer to the story board if we got confused, on these story boards we also drew pictures, so we could visualize how it will look when producing the video. Another thing which was important during in pre-production was that we wrote down the props and dress codes which in this case was school uniform and guitars so we were better prepared when it came to the prodcution. We watched through the original Busted video 'that's what i go to school for', which we re-enacted a lot of times so we thoroughly understood how to shoot each shot.
Production

When producing the video we had to make sure the timing was in sync with the song, this took many shots to get right as things such as people mistiming or laughing would make the scene completely wrong. We also found that it is very hard for someone to pretend to play a guitar when they have no idea how to play one; this makes the scene look completely wrong. Another thing we found during production is that it is hard to get people to go in the background and dance because it causes them embarrassment; however scenes where people had to smile at the camera or walk past were successful because it was less embarrassing. We also found that when there are three different main members it is difficult to get them to go together and be on time, which makes us have to shoot more and more scenes whilst the background people get disorientated and loose enthusiasm. One thing which is essential is that we needed to play out the music whilst shooting each scene so that people knew when to say there lines. Another problem we encountered was the lighting, at some point it was too dark.

Post-Production

During post-production we had to do a lot of editing which is very time consuming, during editing we found it very difficult to get the music and mouth movement timing spot on and in sync, we also found that some of the ‘band members’ didn’t emphasize the words enough so it didn’t look realistic at all. We also found that when we were filming there were some people in the background that shouldn’t be there which destroyed the mis-en-scene.  We also found that the alotted time didn't allow us to re-shoot some of the clips which should have been re-shot. I also found that the video editing software was very basic and didn't allow us to edit it the video in an effective or quality way.
