Filming Final (Part 1)

Here is me filming the scene where the clothes change in rhythm to the music. This was fairly easy because of the practise we had when doing our first draft, however it still took a lot of concentration to make sure that the actor was in the correct position and not moving about in between the shots. We shot it here because of the plain white background, which is what we were after in this sequence of shots. The fact that we had practised these kind of sequences quite a lot meant that it took a lot less shots and therefore reduced the amount of time spent shooting this scene.

Here we are preparing the bedroom scene and Mikey is making sure the music is correct. This took relatively little time to prepare as the room was fairly basic and there was not much to move around. Our team work made preparing the room a lot easier than it could have been, we all communicated well to each other and did not get frustrated with each other which also made filming much easier. The things that we had to move in this room were things such as lamps, books and clothing. We also had to move a big picture as it ruined the mis-en-scene and did not look 'hip-hop' at all, if we did not move it then it would have made the video look 'dodgy'. In this scene we also had to have Josh looking like he just got out of bed, so he wore his bed joggers and no top as this is more believable than normal clothing.

Here we are shooting the scene in which the actor is looking in the mirror. This again was relatively easy, the only concern was positioning the camera in the most suitable position, so we had the actor in the shot and also have the mirror in the shot so you can see him looking at himself. For the mis-en-scene in this shot we moved almost nothing, this was because wanted the bathroom to look like a bathroom and the best way to do that was to just leave it how it was. However we did move unsuitable things such as women's perfume etc. This scene took a couple of takes though because the actor was struggling to mime the words and pretends to do thing at the same time, however it did not take too many takes and we completed this with not too much time spent.

Here is how the table looked before we decorated it to suite our mis-en-scene we were after. As you can see it is pretty plain which is why we chose it as the place to shoot this scene. There are plain walls which helped us and there are no unsuitable props there that we did not want. The table is also the appropriate width and length to shoot the poker scene on. The room also is a good size so it made positioning the camera a lot easier, and also made moving about and setting the room up a lot easier.

Here we have put the poker matt down, on our draft feedback one of the criticisms was that the matt was not smooth. So in response to this we ironed the matt to make it dead straight with very little creases in it. We also positioned the chips and stuff so they look more realistic. The lighting was also very good in this room and was dark, but light enough to see clearly which helped us give the effect that the poker scene was mysterious and perhaps underground.

We also put football shirts signed and in the background to make it appeal to our target market more. Another thing we did was that we placed beers around the table to make it seem like an actual game of poker, and seem more realistic. We also had to make sure the poker chips where placed appropriately, and that we did not move any chips in between filming the shots. This was difficult considering the length of time it took us to shoot this scene.

Here is how the room looked when it was fully prepared. We did a good job in terms of timing and organisation. We also did a good job in terms of how the room looked, I was very pleased with the outcome of the room and i felt it looked as good as we could have possibly made it. The only negative aspect of this room was the wooden thing on the wall, but this was not shown in the music video and therefore did not effect our music video at all.

This is my view when we were positioned on the music video. You can see a line in the matt from my view, but this was not shown in the music video because of the angle of the camera. As you can see the cards are positioned how they would be in a real game of poker to try and get as much realism in the music video as possible. The beers were also positioned where they would be in a real game of poker, and not in the way of the poker game.

This picture shows where the camera was situated. As you can see it was positioned suitably for the shot. One thing we had to make sure when we were choosing this room was that there was enough room to comfortably fit the camera and have a good view, as well as enough room around the table for the pan shot in the music video. This planning helped us achieve the success that we achieved when it came to shooting our video and not taking lots of time.
